Tottenham Hotspur suffered their first defeat under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho on Wednesday against none other than his former club Manchester United.
Spurs were beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford, with England striker Marcus Rashford striking either side of Dele Alli for the home side.
It was a bursting of the bubble for Mourinho, who had overseen three victories from his first three games.
Afterwards, the manager put the loss down to what he perceived to be a lack of emotion and intensity from the Tottenham players in comparison to their counterparts.
Interestingly, Mourinho left both Giovani Lo Celso and Christian Eriksen on the bench, but called upon the Denmark international before the Argentine.
Lo Celso was handed a five-minute cameo, while Eriksen was given more of a chance to influence the game, replacing Lucas Moura on 64 minutes.
Since Mourinho took charge a little over two weeks ago, Eriksen has played 98 minutes, whereas Lo Celso has made two cameo appearances equating to just seven minutes of pitch time.
Spurs fans react
Many Spurs fans are questioning Mourinho about his use of the two players, with Eriksen’s form having been particularly poor so far this season amid his reluctance to sign a new deal.
Lots feel as though the manager should be handing more minutes to Lo Celso, who has just joined the club and has shown flashes of his talent:
So eriksen is leaving yet comes on before Lo Celso each time ?

I agree but what bothers me the most is why is Lo Celso only given 5 or less minutes in every match. Eriksen wants to leave & lately he has been in poor form, why not give chance to Lo Celso?

Why are we giving Eriksen game time…? Clearly wants to go, won’t sign a new contract, must be so demoralising for the likes of Lo Celso who want to play for us yet Eriksen gets put on before him. Eriksen shouldn’t even be near the first team!!

Why bring eriksen on? He wants to leave should be nowhere near the 1st team and this was an ideal chance to see what lo celso has to offer?? Mind boggling!?!?! 🤪

Makes my blood boil, everytime I see Eriksen coming on before Ndombele & LoCelso. I dont care what he has done for 6 years. He is not committing. Apart from a raking 40 yard pass, does nothing when he comes on. Just fuming to see him. He is tarnishing his image built at Spurs

The fact that Eriksen gets game time ahead of LoCelso also is a disgrace

Eriksen over Ndombele and Lo Celso? We’re a shambles
