Tottenham fans question Jose Mourinho’s decision to replace Sissoko with Gedson

Tottenham fans have been expressing their concerns on social media, after Jose Mourinho replaced Moussa Sissoko with Gedson Fernandes, rather than Dele Alli, before the Newcastle United game.

Sissoko had to pull out of the matchday squad due to illness, and it was Portuguese midfielder Gedson who was the man to replace the 31-year-old.

It was interesting that Mourinho did not turn to Alli, who was again left out of the squad.

The 24-year-old was recently not selected for the games against Southampton and Lokomotiv Plovdiv.

Speculation has been mounting over the player’s future, with Paris Saint-Germain having been linked in recent weeks.

Mourinho failing to bring Alli in to replace Sissoko is surely only going to increase speculation about his future.

In recent times though his form has dipped. He enjoyed a good couple of months when Mourinho first replaced Mauricio Pochettino, but 2020 has brought about more struggles for the star.

Spurs fans on social media couldn’t believe Mourinho had picked Gedson to replace Sissoko rather than Alli, with some feeling sorry for the 37-cap England international:
