Tottenham produced an emphatic display to win their Europa League play-off tie on Thursday night – and some of the club’s supporters praised goalkeeper Joe Hart for his performance.

Spurs beat Israeli side Maccabi Haifa 7-2 at home to reach the Europa League group stages, with the draw taking place on Friday.

Jose Mourinho’s side flexed their attacking muscles with goals from Harry Kane (three), Giovani Lo Celso (two), Lucas Moura and Dele Alli.

Despite an emphatic scoreline, the visitors gave a great amount of themselves where they played on the front foot and scored a couple of goals for their efforts.

Tjaronn Chery scored an unstoppable goal from distance with his left foot, plus they converted a penalty through Nikita Rukavytsya after a spot-kick was harshly given.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media were impressed by second-choice goalkeeper Hart for his display, as he was kept busy by the underdogs and pulled off some eye-catching saves.

The 33-year-old Englishman couldn’t do much about the long-range rocket from Chery, but he bailed his team out a couple of time with some blocks coming off his line and some reflex saves.

He’s an experienced shot-stopper that showed he can be a leader at the back with his communication to the defenders and looks an adequate understudy to Hugo Lloris.
