Last season, if Tottenham fans had been told that Moussa Sissoko would be holding their midfield together against the might of Manchester City, in their most important game of the season, it’s fair to say they’d have feared the worst.
But the Frenchman, who Spotrac claim earns £80,000 a week, has transformed opinions of him this term and produced another physically imposing performance against Pep Guardiola’s side last night.
He didn’t let the likes of David Silva settle and that provided a springboard for a crucial 1-0 victory, sealed by a Son Heung-min goal late on in the second half.
Sissoko must be in the discussion for Tottenham’s player of the season – along with Son – and was once again exceptional on a night on which Mauricio Pochettino’s side took a step towards the Champions League semi-finals.

After being a scapegoat last season, Sissoko is now loved by Tottenham fans and they took to Twitter in droves to respond to his post-match message thanking them for the atmosphere they created on the first Champions League night in the new revamped White Hart Lane.
We’ve put together some of the best reaction as Spurs fans hope Sissoko can help finish the job next week…
