Tottenham are reportedly holding talks with their defender Jan Vertonghen about a new contract – but some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are not pleased with the length of the deal that has been mooted.
The Daily Mail reports that Spurs have entered discussions with the Belgium international about a fresh deal, as his existing one expires at the end of the campaign.
It’s explained that Spurs would prefer to give him a 12-month deal due to the fact he’s now aged 32.
But the centre-back can point towards the fact that Moussa Sissoko, 30, recently penned a four-year contract with the North London club.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media are keen for Vertonghen to commit his future to them, but feel it’s insulting that a one-year extension has been mentioned and claim he deserves long.
He’s been a key player since he joined from Dutch giants Ajax in 2012 and grown into a talisman in defence for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The defender has completed every minute of the last four consecutive Premier League games and is a real leader at the back that is still performing at a high level.
His partnership alongside Toby Alderweireld has been one of the most consistent across Europe in recent years and doesn’t look to be slowing down.
Here are some Spurs fans responding to the Vertonghen speculation:
