Tottenham fans keep making the same point about Heung-min Son after defeats to Aston Villa and Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur fans are continuing to send the same message to Ange Postecoglou about Heung-min Son following defeats to Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Spurs have now crashed out of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup within the space of just three days following defeats to Liverpool and Villa.

The North London club’s injury situation is now significantly catching up with Postecoglou’s squad who are struggling to cope with the fixture schedule.

Now, following the team’s exit from two competitions and another season set to pass without silverware, Spurs supporters are starting to point the finger at their captain.

Tottenham fans can’t believe Heung-min Son is still captain

Tottenham Hotspur fans are now really starting to question whether Son Heung-min is the right player to be captaining the team following another lacklustre showing.

Son missed a sitter in the first half at Villa Park as his effort from just a few yards out was aimed right into the grateful arms of Emiliano Martinez.

Nothing seems to be going right for the South Korean forward at this moment in time who looks shattered and devoid of any confidence.

For a player who has built a reputation for being one of the Premier League’s best-ever finishers, the 32-year-old just hasn’t looked the same this season.

Following the defeat to Aston Villa, Spurs supporters took to X to share their frustrations towards Son and question his status as captain.

One fan stated: “I realised there’s no urgency in our team. The mentality difference between Tel and Son is absolutely humongous. our captain is a serial loser so of course other players will follow suit.”

“Son’s a very good player but he’s most definitely not a captain. It’s baffling how Spurs have still not brought a leader figure in,” added another.

There was yet more criticism for Son: “I got hammered for saying Sonny is not a captain! Love him but he is not a captain. We actually do not have a captain in the squad.”

“Sonny is one of my favourite players to put on the shirt, but his decline is so painful to watch. He shouldn’t be in the team anymore, let alone the captain,” claimed another supporter.

How poor was Heung-min Son against Aston Villa?

Despite playing the full 90 minutes, Son managed just five more touches than Mikey Moore who was withdrawn at half-time.

The South Korean international also completed just eight passes as he showed he was just not up for the fight at Villa Park.

Postecoglou cannot afford to start Son against Manchester United next weekend and hand the winger a rest from the team.
