Harry Winks was not only a surprise inclusion in Antonio Conte’s Tottenham side on Sunday, but he was one of his side’s best players. However, Tottenham fans are hoping he joins Newcastle in the January window.
Winks, 25, started just his third Premier League game of the season for Tottenham on Sunday. With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg missing, and Oliver Skipp only able to make the bench, Winks was handed a start.
In a new-look midfield, Winks played alongside Tanguy Ndombele – behind Dele Alli, who looked like his old self against Liverpool. The England international enjoyed more touches than any of his teammates.
WhoScored report that he touched the ball 79 times, while also laying on an assist for Son Heung-min to score. Defensively, he produced four interceptions and three blocks – again, leading his teammates in those stats.

However, the January window is approaching and ultimately, Winks might be on his way. A lack of game time might convince him to move, especially with the 2022 World Cup coming in 12 months time.
Tottenham fans hoping Winks has tempted Newcastle into January move
While many Tottenham fans applauded Winks for his display, some have not forgotten his earlier form this season – and indeed under Jose Mourinho. Many think it is time for the Spurs academy star to move on.
The Mail reported only last month that Eddie Howe wants Newcastle to sign Winks in January. Whether that is on loan, or permanently, remains to be seen. Some Tottenham fans hope Sunday will convince Newcastle to move.
