Tottenham fans hail ‘maestro’ Oliver Skipp after Tranmere win

Oliver Skipp completed the full game in the 7-0 demolition of League Two Tranmere Rovers on Friday night – and some Tottenham fans on Twitter raved about the quality of their midfielder.

Spurs thrashed their opponents away in the third round of the FA Cup, as they once again showed their attacking prowess.

Fernando Llorente (three), Serge Aurier (two), Heung-Min Son and substitute Harry Kane were on the scoresheet for the Premier League outfit.

Mauricio Pochettino did make wholesale changes to his team, with a Carabao Cup semi-final and Premier League fixture with Manchester United within the next week.

But they had more than enough quality to book their spot in the fourth round of the cup and there were a number of standout performances.

Academy graduate Skipp completed 90 minutes in the tie and made his seventh first-team appearance of the season.

The central midfielder had a couple of nervous moments on the ball, but in the main was strong in possession and did his job well sat in front of the back four.

The 18-year-old also demonstrated he can make a difference going forward, as he threaded through a brilliant pass to assist Llorente for his second goal.

Skipp will hope to continue getting senior opportunities this campaign and looks like he could be the next rising star at the club.
