Harry Winks started in the Tottenham win over Crystal Palace on Saturday – and some of the club’s supporters were blown away by his performance in the centre of the park.
Spurs recorded a convincing 4-0 victory in the Premier League at home, which has seen them temporarily climb third in the table.
The North London club scored all their goals in the first-half, as they came out of the gates firing to earn the three points.
Heung-Min Son scored two goals and Erik Lamela was also on the scoresheet, while Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt netted an own goal.
It was a perfect start for Mauricio Pochettino’s side after the international break and they now turn attention to a Champions League group stage fixture away at Olympiacos on Wednesday.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media picked out Winks for his display at the weekend and believe he massively stood out.
The 23-year-old doesn’t always receive special attention, as he does the ugly work in front of the defence and keeps it simple.
But the central midfielder was comfortable in possession against Palace and helped dominate the ball for the hosts.
Here are some Spurs fans commenting on Englishman Winks:
@HarryWinks you’re like a pit bull! Your work rate was amazing. Running back tracking Zaha like he’s a average player. Well played winks! Fabulous performance. You deserved the massive evasion you got when subbed. He’s spurs in and out. Proper YID!!#COYS #THFC
