Tottenham fans hail Erik Lamela Champions League performance

Tottenham picked up a much-needed win on Tuesday night against Red Star Belgrade – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out Erik Lamela for his performance.

Spurs beat the Serbian outfit 5-0 at home in a Champions League group stage fixture, as they got their European campaign back on track.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side had just one win in their last seven games across all competitions prior to facing Red Star and rediscovered some confidence by thrashing their opponents.

Harry Kane (two), Heung-Min Son (two) and Lamela were all on the scoresheet to help earn three points.

The North London club will now prepare for a daunting trip to Liverpool in the Premier League at the weekend, but at least go into it with some kind of form.

Lamela scored the fourth goal of the contest against Red Star, as he swivelled inside the penalty area and smashed in with his favoured left foot.

The right-winger also assisted the opening two goals with his crosses and was influential on the night.

He marked his 200th Spurs appearance in style and surely has to be pushing for an opportunity against Liverpool.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media picked out Lamela after his efforts and feel he made an excellent contribution.
