Christian Pulisic impressed during his first competitive start for Chelsea as Frank Lampard’s side suffered a penalty-shootout defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup – and Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Champions League and Europa League winners played out a 2-2 draw that saw Chelsea take the lead, thanks to an excellent assist from 20-year-old Pulisic – who slipped in Olivier Giroud to open the scoring.
Sadio Mane equalised after good work from Roberto Firmino, before Mane gave Liverpool the lead with a superb first-time finish just five minutes into extra time. But Jorginho equalised from the penalty spot.
Tammy Abraham was the only player to miss a penalty in the shootout as Liverpool won 5-4 to hold aloft the trophy. But plenty of praise has been directed towards Chelsea, who battled bravely against the Merseyside outfit.

United States international Pulisic impressed throughout, before being substituted for Mason Mount in the 74th minute. Tottenham were interested in Pulisic before he completed his £58million (TalkSPORT) move to Chelsea.
That is according to former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who told TalkSPORT back in January that Spurs were keen but did not want to pay: “I heard they were interested in Pulisic, he was on their radar but he was too expensive.”
Tottenham fans reacted to Pulisic’s display for London rivals Chelsea and many Spurs fans were impressed with the young American, with some questioning why Lampard opted to substitute him.
