Tottenham Hotspur took a giant leap towards qualifying for next season’s Champions League with a late 1-0 win over Brighton at the new ground – but Spurs fans are disappointed with Victor Wanyama.
The 27-year-old has finally overcome a troublesome time with injuries to return to Mauricio Pochettino’s side. But he looked out of sorts on Tuesday evening as Spurs went in search of three points.
A number of poor attempts from long range that did not pose Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan any trouble, twinned with an array of misplaced passes left Spurs fans frustrated with his display.

The Kenya captain was subbed, and just moments later Spurs finally found the breakthrough. Mercurial playmaker Christian Eriksen’s left-footed smash from the best part of 25 yards flew past Ryan into the bottom corner.
Spurs sit in third place on 70 points. They are three ahead of Chelsea, four in front of Arsenal and six above Manchester United. Arsenal and Manchester United play on Wednesday night, though.
But Wanyama was at the forefront of many supporters’ minds after the games. Some took to Twitter to voice their disappointment with his display, and it looked as though the majority are fed up with the £11million (BBC) signing.
