After two hotly-contested legs of their EFL Cup semi-final, Chelsea and Tottenham could only be separated on penalties at Stamford Bridge last night.
The score was 2-2 on aggregate, but it was Chelsea who held their nerve under the pressure of the shoot-out, as Eric Dier and Lucas Moura both missed from the spot to help the Blues book their place at Wembley.
Fernando Llorente had made way for Moura in the second half and was not on the pitch for the spot-kicks, but before that, he went some way to silencing some of the critics who had grown louder after his performance against Fulham at the weekend.
At Craven Cottage, he was laboured throughout and missed two headed chances which would have sealed the win without the need for Harry Winks’ late heroics and it was a similar story in the first half last night.

His touch was off and attacks broke down when they went near him in the opening period, but the second half was a different story.
And it was his excellent header that forced the shoot-out; Danny Rose’s sumptuous cross from the left was nodded home by the Spaniard, who managed to stop David Luiz getting to the ball.
While the evening ultimately ended in disappointment for Spurs, their fans were pleased to see Llorente finally show his worth in a big game.
