Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea in Tuesday night’s Champions League semi-final first leg in Spain as Thomas Tuchel’s side impressed against Zinedine Zidane’s men – and Spurs fans have raved about Luka Modric.
An early strike from American winger Christian Pulisic saw Chelsea boast a priceless away goal and while Karim Benzema equalised for Madrid, Chelsea will be feeling more confident of the two going into the second leg next week.
Modric, who turns 36 in September, started and finished the game in midfield in what was remarkably his 43rd outing of the season in all competitions. The Croatia skipper continues to show that age is simply just a number.

While N’Golo Kante was easily the best player on the pitch, Modric still showed glimpses of utter class – with an array of passing, tactical awareness and footballing intelligence only seen in the latter stages of the Champions League.
Tottenham fans took to Twitter to rave about Modric, a player that turned out for the North London club for four years – clocking up 160 appearances in all competitions – before moving to Madrid in the summer of 2018.
One Spurs supporter posted on Twitter, stating that she felt “lucky” to have seen Modric “in our shirt”.
