Tottenham are reportedly interested in Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter don’t believe it makes sense to pursue him.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are one of several clubs that have an interest in him this summer.
The report explains that Spurs are joined in the chase for the 30-year-old by Manchester United, Porto and Monaco.
It is also understood that newly-promoted side Aston Villa are leading the chase for him and he would cost around £12million.
The Slovakian shot-stopper has seen talks over a new contract with Newcastle stall after the departure of manager Rafael Benitez.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media find the Dubravka speculation odd and find it hard to see where he could fit in.
Lloris the the number one goalkeeper at the North London club and also captain, while Paulo Gazzaniga has proven himself to be a quality replacement too.
Dubravka has been an excellent goalkeeper since he moved to St James’ Park and has a key role in the team’s defensive success.
He is a 6ft 4in colossus that is dependable in net and would have had far more than 16 international caps if it wasn’t for Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak.
Here are some Spurs fans on Dubravka speculation:
No point spending anything on a 30 year old backup. Keep the cash and save it for a real lloris replacement. Keepers aren’t cheap these days
