Liverpool have confirmed that striker Daniel Sturridge will be leaving Anfield at the end of his contract on a free transfer – and Tottenham Hotspur fans have discussed potentially luring him to north London.
The 29-year-old attacker has spent six and a half years at Anfield since joining the club from Chelsea for a fee of £12million, according to the Telegraph. He scored 68 goals in 160 outings for the Reds.
However, in recent seasons injury has prevented the England international from developing any kind of momentum. A failed loan spell at West Bromwich Albion sums up those injury woes, where he played just six times.
Now, Liverpool have confirmed Sturridge will leave the club on their official website, along with left-back Alberto Moreno and have thanked the duo for their services to the Merseyside club.
Tottenham are likely to be after a new striker this summer, given that Fernando Llorente’s contract is set to expire at the end of the month. It is yet to be confirmed that Llorente is leaving Spurs, but it looks likely.
Tottenham fans have discussed bringing in Sturridge this summer as Llorente’s replacement, with many of the belief that the ex-Chelsea striker would be a good signing for Spurs – even though he is earning a huge £130,000 a week (Spotrac).
Who’d take Sturridge on a pay as you play deal?
It’s not like he can’t finish. Think he’d do well IF he stayed fit. He’s been unlucky at Liverpool and that 3 front don’t let anyone else have a look in! #thfc #COYS #

We need a back-up striker so either give Parrott his senior shot or bring Sturridge in on free, we could do a lot worse than that #COYS

Sturridge? Rondón? Ings? Mitrovic? Charlie Austin? In two years Llorente showed up for 45 minutes against Ajax. Let’s get a bit of energy that might actually push Kane
