Tottenham fans discuss Harry Winks performance despite failure to beat Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur missed the chance to secure a crucial three points that would have taken them into third place in the Premier League, as a late header from Ivan Cavaleiro saw the two sides play out a 1-1 draw – and Spurs fans discussed Harry Winks’ display.

Following Manchester City’s win over Brighton, three points was enough to take Tottenham into third place. Things looked as though they were going to go to plan, with Sergio Reguilon’s inch-perfect cross finding Harry Kane – who headed past Alphonse Areola.

But Areola was in inspired form. He made a brilliant point-blank save to deny Son Heung-min, while Kane missed a header from inside the six-yard box – a miss that left the England skipper bewildered at himself. Spurs had plenty more chances to net.

In the second half, Fulham improved. Scott Parker’s side had numerous chances but it was the introduction of Ademola Lookman that provided the difference for the Cottagers. The ex-Everton man curled in a delightful cross that Ivan Cavaleiro headed home.

The scoreline remained the same, despite Sergio Reguilon putting the ball in the net – only for his strike to be ruled offside. It is a frustrating result for Mourinho and Spurs – but many were impressed with the display of England midfielder Winks.

Winks was taken off after 74 minutes and impressed, with his normal array of passing on show – as well as almost curling a 25-yard effort into the bottom corner. Many praised his efforts.
