The Telegraph have claimed that Gedson Fernandes is in danger of being axed from Tottenham Hotspur’s Europa League squad, with Jose Mourinho having limited spaces to choose his side – and Spurs fans have discussed the player’s future.
Gedson, 21, only joined Tottenham on an 18-month loan-to-buy deal from Benfica in January – but managed just 12 appearances during the second half of the season. This term, he has played in just one of eight league and cup outings.
Now, the Telegraph have claimed that Gedson – along with goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga – could miss out when Mourinho picks his 25-man squad for the Europa League group stages on Tuesday. Mourinho has to include eight homegrown players.

The issues stem around Eric Dier and Ben Davies not being considered homegrown players – with Dier being raised in Portugal at Sporting Lisbon and Davies counting as a Welsh player, which does not count.
Gedson is some way down the pecking order at Spurs. The likes of Gio Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Moussa Sissoko and even Dele Alli are considered above the Portugal international in the midfield pecking order.
Some Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter, with many believing that the Europa League group stages propose the perfect opportunity for Gedson to show hia quality. Others, though, think it is about time that Spurs considered the player’s future.
