The Express has claimed that Manchester City have opened talks with French side Stade Rennais over a potential move for midfielder Eduardo Camavinga – and Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter.
Still just 17 years of age, Camavinga has come a regular at the base of Rennes’ midfield having made seven senior appearances last season. He has already played 28 times this term, and even opened his account with the only goal in a 1-0 win over Lyon.
Already a France Under-21 international, Camavinga has a contract at Rennes until the summer of 2022. City are not the only side interested in Camavinga, though, with the Express crediting Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and PSG with an interest.
Italian outlet Pianeta Milan also claim AC Milan are interested, with Rennes looking to rake in a figure of around £30million for his signature. City are likely to be after a holding midfielder as cover for Rodri, when Fernandinho leaves.
Meanwhile, Tottenham could also do with a sitting midfielder. Eric Dier’s performances have been heavily criticised during the Jose Mourinho era, while Harry Winks has been used sparingly – starting just six of Mourinho’s 12 league games in charge.
Victor Wanyama continues to be linked with an exit, Tanguy Ndombele is struggling with his fitness and Moussa Sissoko is out until April. Spurs fans want a holding midfielder, and many want to see Camavinga signed.
