Andy Robertson was shown a red card on Sunday night as Liverpool drew with Tottenham Hotspur in North London. Reacting on Instagram, the Scot discussed his red – and Tottenham fans have responded on Twitter.
Robertson, 27, was handed a red card for a brutal tackle on Emerson Royal. With the Brazil international ace in between ball and Robertson, the Scotland skipper took a swipe at the Tottenham man, nowhere near the ball.
A definite red. What is controversial, is that Harry Kane was guilty of a studs-up challenge – planting his foot on Robertson’s ankle. VAR deemed it was only a yellow card, but many have suggested it deserved more.
It was a game full of controversy, with Diogo Jota’s goal seeing Mo Salah handball in the lead up to the Portuguese star’s effort. Liverpool might have had a penalty too, Royal barging into Jota in the first half.
Robertson addressed the tackles. He apologised to Reds fans for giving the referee a decision to make in regards to his red – but he also commented on Kane’s tackle, or at least hinted towards it.
What do Tottenham fans think of Liverpool star Robertson and his post?
Kane’s tackle is a bad one. But as many have pointed out, he is low. The point of contact is not high and that might just be his saving grace. But Liverpool fans, and Jurgen Klopp, were apoplectic after the match.
Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to Robertson’s Instagram – specifically, the line: “Probably the best I don’t speak about other things in the match.” Many have argued with the Liverpool man’s stance.
