Tottenham teenager Maksim Paskotsi held aloft the Baltic Cup on Thursday night as Estonia surpassed Latvia to win 2-1. The 18-year-old defender started the game as a substitute but played more than an hour after coming on inside the first 30 minutes – and Tottenham fans want Paskotsi to sign a new deal.

Paskotsi, 18, is earning rave reviews in the Tottenham academy with his performances for the Under-18 side. So much so, that the five-time Estonia international has broken into his country’s side – and sat on the bench for the Under-23 team on four occasions. He has even captained the 18’s.

His reputation continues to rise. His performance at centre-back on Thursday night saw Estonia finish top of the three-nation Baltic Cup group. He had starred in the other win, a 1-0 away win over Lithuania. Tottenham posted a picture of their defender on Twitter, applauding his achievement.

What are Tottenham fans saying about Paskotsi?

Paskotsi only joined Tottenham from Estonian minnows FC Flora back in September 2020. TransferMarkt claim he has a contract at the North London club until the summer of 2023, and he will be hopeful of breaking into the senior side before then in order to show he deserves an extension.

Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to their club’s post, with many claiming that he is already deserving of a chance in the senior side. Others ordered Daniel Levy and the Tottenham hierarchy to hand Paskotsi a new contract – despite having two years left on his original deal.
