Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-19 side played out an entertaining 1-1 draw with a well-drilled Olympiacos in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday afternoon in Greece – but Spurs fans are disappointed with Timothy Eyoma.

Spurs took the lead ahead of the senior side’s clash against Olympiacos at 5.55pm, thanks to up-and-coming goal machine Troy Parrott. Good play from Rodel Richards gave Parrott the chance to slide the ball home – which he did.

Joshua Oluwayemi made an excellent save to deny Olympiacos, as the Greek side’s experience began to tell. Not long after, and Olympiacos had equalised – with 19-year-old powerhouse Eyoma certainly at fault.

The six-time England Under-19 international’s backpass was woeful, and it saw Olympiacos race forward to score. Alexandros Voilis race forward before squaring to George Fekkas, who finished well despite stumbling in the build up.

The score remained at 1-1 until the final whistle, with both sides having a number of chances throughout but failing to capitalise. Like the senior side, they also face Bayern Munich and Crvena zvezda.

Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to Eyoma’s mistake in Olympiacos’ goal, in a match in which Eyoma remained solid other than the mistake. Many were disappointed, while one fan reckons that is why Japhet Tanganga has overtaken him in the pecking order.
