Tottenham fans destroy Eric Dier for display in Brighton loss

Tottenham suffered a crushing 3-0 away defeat against Brighton on Saturday afternoon in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter raged at Eric Dier for his performance.

Spurs were beaten 7-2 in midweek by Bayern Munich during a Champions League group stages, but the Brighton loss was perhaps even more humiliating for them.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were unable to respond to their European mauling, as they caved in at the Amex Stadium and look in a dreadful position going into the international break.

The North London club have just 11 points from their opening eight league games, as well as being knocked out of Carabao Cup by League Two Colchester United.

Brighton took the lead after just three minutes when Neal Maupay pounced on an error from Hugo Lloris on the goal-line, which left the goalkeeper with a bad injury and forcing him off.

The hosts continued to dominate in the first-half and 19-year-old Aaron Connolly added a second from close-range.

Connolly then scored his second of the game to wrap up three points in the second-half with an excellent finish that he curled into the bottom corner.

A selection of supporters on social media aimed their frustration towards Dier for his display against Brighton.

The defensive midfielder came into the XI for his first start in the Premier League this season and his arrival didn’t help them tighten up at the back.

Dier was extremely sloppy in possession during the contest and couldn’t prevent Brighton carving through the team on numerous occasions.

Here are some Spurs fans ripping into the 25-year-old:
