Tottenham fans demand Giovani Lo Celso starts against Everton

Tottenham travel to Everton on Sunday in the Premier League – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are desperate for Giovani Lo Celso to earn his first start.

Spurs signed Lo Celso in the summer from Real Betis, but have the option to buy the midfielder (BBC).

The 23-year-old has been extremely unlucky with injuries so far this season and is yet to start a single game for the North London club.

He’s made five appearances as a substitute across all competitions and is yet to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI.

The Argentina international is a versatile central midfielder that can be a real threat when he pushes into more advanced positions and scored 16 goals across all competitions last season for Real Betis.

A selection of Spurs supporters on social media have called for Pochettino to throw Lo Celso into the starting XI on Sunday for the first time.

They desperately need to put together a couple of victories, as they sit 11th in the league table as it stands and have had a difficult campaign so far.

Meanwhile, upcoming opponents Everton are underperforming too in 16th and it’s a fixture between two struggling teams at Goodison Park.

Lo Celso has shown in glimpses his quality when featuring and is an exciting young talent, but it remains to be seen if he’s fit enough to complete 90 minutes.

Here are some Spurs fans calling for Lo Celso to start at the weekend:
