Tottenham fans delighted with Tanguy Ndombele after win over Shkendija

Tottenham Hotspur breathed a huge sigh of relief on Thursday night as they edged past Macedonian side KF Shkendija with a 3-1 win in eastern Europe – and Spurs fans have applauded the performance of Tanguy Ndombele.

Jose Mourinho made six changes to take on Shkendija. Joe Hart made his debut, while Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Steve Bergwijn came in to the starting line-up.

Despite the reshuffle, Spurs instantly hit the front foot as Erik Lamela netted after four minutes. But Spurs were pretty lacklustre after that – with Valmir Nafiu equalising on 55 minutes with a brilliant goal.

Mourinho decided to bring on Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Gio Lo Celso and the substitutions did the work. Lucas’ effort was parried to Son, who restored Tottenham’s 2-1 lead on 70 minutes,

Son then turned provider to supply Kane with a delightful cross, as the England skipper headed home with ease. But it was Ndombele who starred in the middle of the park, as he continues his resurgent form under Mourinho.

Many Tottenham supporters reacted on Twitter to 23-year-old midfielder Ndombele’s display, which saw him prove effective in both the opposition box and in a defensive manner – helping Spurs reach the play-off stage of qualifying.
