Tottenham could only manage a goalless draw away to Watford on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter ripped into Lucas Moura for his performance.
Spurs had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate away to Watford in the Premier League and it was another blow to their hopes of trying to get back into the top four race.
Paulo Gazzaniga saved a second-half penalty from Watford captain Troy Deeney, while Erik Lamela had an effort scrambled off the line in the final stages to ensure the teams couldn’t be separated.
The North London club host Norwich City on Wednesday night in their next league fixture, before trailing to Southampton next weekend in the FA Cup fourth round.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media were left fuming with Moura after his contribution against Watford.
The 27-year-old was tasked with playing the central striker role at the weekend, as Mourinho tries to find a solution without injured talisman Harry Kane.
Moura, who is a right-winger by trade, struggled to hold the ball up with his small frame and he’s not scored in his last six league matches.
He did have one decent goalscoring opportunity in the first-half, but smashed it straight at goalkeeper Ben Foster when perhaps he could have done better.
Here are some Spurs fans on Moura:
Moura should never start upfront for us again. #COYS
