Tottenham fans call for club to replicate Hojbjerg's Denmark position

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has proved to be a key player for Tottenham since he signed. But, after he shone for Denmark, many fans want to see some changes to his game.

The Danish midfielder featured primarily as a ball-winner for Jose Mourinho in his debut season at Tottenham, but he can offer so much more.

For his country, Hojbjerg features higher up the pitch as a dynamic box-to-box player.

This allows the ex-Bayern Munich man to contribute more creatively.

Over the course of the European Championships, Hojbjerg chipped in with three assists in six games (Transfermarkt), compared to his four assists in 38 league games last season (Transfermarkt).

Mali XI If All Eligible Players Had Declared For Them

Whilst playing for Denmark again, Tottenham fans once again had a chance to see their man’s creative abilities as he pitched in with another assist in a 2-0 win over Scotland.

Seeing that, many Tottenham fans now want to see Hojbjerg played in a slightly more advanced position to where he is regularly deployed at club level.

This isn’t an unrealistic ask either.

With the return of Oliver Skipp from his season-long loan at Norwich last season, Hojbjerg is no longer the only capable holding midfielder at Tottenham.

Hojbjerg’s engine could viably be used to aid the attack as well as the defence if Skipp is tasked with playing the more defensive role in Nuno Espirito Santo’s 4-3-3 formation.

With the running that goes on ahead of Skipp and Hojbjerg from the likes of Steven Bergwijn, Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son, we could see a real creative spark from the Spurs fan favourite.
