Tottenham fans buzzing as club makes Monday announcement

Tottenham have added Tanguy Ndombele to their Europa Conference League squad. The 24-year-old hasn’t featured under Nuno Espirito Santo after missing a large part of pre-season.

Spurs will face Rennes, Vitesse and NS Mura in the group stages and the Frenchman has no been added. Tottenham are in the competition after a seventh-place finish last term.

Ndombele cost Spurs £53 million back in 2019. He was expected to take the Premier League by storm, although he’s endured an indifferent time of things at the club.

He initially struggled to make an impact under both Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho. Last season he did start to showcase his talents though, coming good in the Tottenham team.

ULTIMATE XI Of Players Signed This Summer

Ndombele played 46 times for Tottenham last season. He managed six goals and claimed four assists as Spurs endured a campaign that was littered with inconsistencies.

Espirito Santo already seems to have found a winning formula. His team sits top of the Premier League with three wins from three. Spurs have defeated Manchester City, Wolves and Watford so far during 2021/22.

After his early omission from the squad, some discussion had taken place as to where Ndombele would fit in. Now, he’s been included in the European squad and perhaps some game time is on the horizon.

Tottenham fans discuss Ndombele inclusion

It’s fair to say there are some mixed reviews as to whether the midfielder deserves a place. Spurs have flown out of the blocks this season and supporters won’t want morale upsetting.

Ndombele has played 75 times for Tottenham in total. He is also among the highest-earning players at the club, collecting £200,000-a-week.

With that in mind, perhaps Espirito Santo figures that he might as well utilise him as the season progresses.

He could get a chance to impress the new boss in Europe and some Spurs fans would welcome his return. Here is what those fans had to say on Twitter after yesterday’s news.
