Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard on a free transfer – and Spurs fans have reacted.

Lingard, 28, is out of contract next summer and The Times claim Lingard has held talks with Manchester United. He is set to leave on a free in June.

ESPN report that Tottenham are one of four Premier League clubs looking at Lingard – but face competition from West Ham, Everton and Newcastle.

Lingard was excellent out on loan at West Ham – scoring nine goals in 16 games. He returned to United, hoping his loan would earn him game time.

But he has managed just eight appearances – scoring two goals for his boyhood club. He has now spoken to Solskjaer about his game time.

The report states the result of that will see him leave on a free next summer. ESPN say Spurs are one of those clubs interested in him.

What are Tottenham fans saying about signing Lingard on a free?

Tottenham have numerous options in the final third. Lucas Moura is currently first choice – partnering Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Son and Kane are first choice and will not be displaced. Antonio Conte uses a 3-4-3 system, meaning only a right winger is needed at Spurs.

Lucas starts, while Steven Bergwijn is another option. Lingard could play deeper, but Spurs also have the likes of Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli.

Gio Lo Celso, too. Tottenham fans, though, think he would be a good in North London – urging their club to sign £75k-a-week (Spotrac) Lingard.
