Virgil van Dijk was asked by Liverpool’s official website to pick a 5-a-side team of current Premier League players, but not including his teammates – and Spurs fans have applauded the Dutchman for his comments on Son Heung-min.
Van Dijk picked three Manchester City stars despite the rivalry between the two sides at the top of the table, choosing Ederson, Kevin De Bruyne and Aymeric Laporte – using a 1-2-1 formation.
Alongside De Bruyne in midfield, van Dijk also included Son as well as Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang up front. Despite injuries and suspension, Son has been in top form once again this season – having a hand in 25 goals during 32 games.
Son has now clocked up more than 200 appearances for the north London side and other than Harry Kane, he is probably Spurs’ best player. Van Dijk picked the South Korea captain in his side, and commented on the attacker.

“He’s [Son] quick, he’s strong, he goes out there to make life hell on the pitch for a defender. And his finishing – right foot, left foot – is just outstanding so I think I would pick him,” van Dijk told Liverpool’s official website.
The Independent have claimed this season that Liverpool’s transfer team do like the look of Son but are not interested in pursuing a deal to sign the former Bayer Leverkusen ace, as they realise there is little chance of nabbing his signature.
Tottenham supporters have reacted on Twitter to van Dijk’s comments about the Spurs attacker, and many have applauded the former Southampton and Celtic man for being honest and complimenting the Tottenham ace.
