Tottenham fans applaud Harry Kane for moment during embarrassing defeat to minnows NS Mura

Another embarrassing Tottenham display saw Spurs record a 2-1 loss to NS Mura on Thursday night – but Spurs fans have applauded Harry Kane.

Tottenham were expected to cruise to victory in Slovenia, with a win needed to qualify for the knockout stages of the Conference League.

Antonio Conte made changes, but still started the likes of Oliver Skipp, Harry Kane, Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Alli against Mura.

But it was a woefully desperate display from Spurs. Mura took the lead after a mistake from Davinson Sanchez, allowing Tomi Horvat to cut inside.

He curled a delightful opener past Pierluigi Gollini. Ryan Sessegnon was sent off for a dismal second yellow card, showing a lack of experience.

Kane equalised with a gorgeous chip in the second half, but with Spurs pressing for a winner – Mura produced miracles, hitting on the counter.

Amadej Marosa got the winner, despite Conte bringing on Son Heung-min, Eric Dier, Lucas Moura and Ben Davies on just 54 minutes.

Kane has only scored one goal in the Premier League so far this season, but in all competitions – the England skipper now has eight.

His gorgeous little chip gave Spurs hope on what was an awful night. Conte delivered some home truths in his press conference after the match.

But Spurs fans still did have some praise for Kane on Twitter after his goal, which was taken superbly. They will be hoping he can do it in the league.
