Tottenham suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Burnley on Saturday in the Premier League – and many of their fans on Twitter ripped defender Juan Foyth to shreds for his performance.

Spurs missed the opportunity to go just two points behind the top two of Manchester City and Liverpool in the league, as they slipped up at Turf Moor.

The North London club found themselves a goal behind due to Chris Wood’s powerful header in the second-half, but returnee Harry Kane did equalise with his smart finish on his comeback game.

Spurs did end up on the losing side due to Ashley Barnes’ late winner, as he popped up at the back post to tap in.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team could have forced their way right into the title picture with a win, but it was a massive opportunity missed at the weekend.

A selection of Spurs fans on social media decided to hammer Foyth for his individual display.

The 21-year-old is a highly-rated defender at the club and started as part of a back three.

But the Argentinian centre-back had an extremely tough match against Burnley’s powerful strikers and was eventually substituted off in the second-half.

Foyth lost Wood for Burnley’s opening goal from a corner, while he was also bullied at times and caught out of position.
