Tottenham are reportedly lining up a fresh contract offer to their player Christian Eriksen – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are furious with the speculation and would rather he was sold.
The Daily Mail reports that Spurs are hopeful they can make the Denmark international pen a new deal with them.
His current contract expires in the summer, but it’s understood he may be offered a mega £230,000-a-week deal to stay at Spurs.
The report explains that the alternative is the “wantaway” attacking midfielder is sold in January and Real Madrid’s Isco is shortlisted as a potential replacement.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side seem determined to keep Eriksen at the North London club, despite the fact his form has dropped off massively in recent times.
The playmaker joined back in 2013 from Ajax and is usually at the heart of the team’s offensive play.
But he only has one goal so far this season in 11 matches across all competitions and is one of the players that have really struggled.
Pochettino’s side are under pressure after a shocking start to the campaign that was highlighted by a 3-0 defeat to Brighton in the last game and too many individuals looks disinterested.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media feel that Eriksen is already halfway out the door and would rather he exits than handed a luxury contract.
Here are some Spurs fans responding to the Eriksen speculation:
Please just give up hope

Money doesn’t buy happiness. He’s clearly not happy at the club so they can pay as much as they want but it won’t change him. He needs to be sold in January, but only if they’ll actually bring Fernandes in.

Why wouId you want him taking more money from our club yet still acting the way he has. This new contract is a financial move from Levy to get more money from his transfer fee when he does go

Shame, as he gave up on the shirt months ago.
