Joshua Onomah scored a wondergoal for Scott Parker’s Fulham on Monday night as the Cottagers placed one foot in the Championship play-off semi-final – prompting reaction from Ryan Mason and onlooking Tottenham fans.
Onomah and Fulham lined up as they looked to book their place in the play-off final at Wembley, a day after Swansea had beaten Brentford by a goal to nil at the Liberty Stadium – thanks to Andre Ayew’s late strike.
It saw two different styles take to the field. Neil Harris’ men were happy to defend and attack on the counter while Parker’s Fulham enjoyed 66% of possession. But the game was lacking a bit of magic.
Step forward 23-year-old Onomah. His dazzling footwork left the Cardiff defence in a tangle, before he calmly stroked the ball past Bluebirds goalkeeper Alex Smithies to give Fulham the lead after 49 minutes.
Neeskens Kebano made it 2-0 to Fulham in injury time, executing a free-kick from 20 yards to perfection. But Onomah earned the man-of-the-match trophy for his performance in attacking midfield.
Ryan Mason and Tottenham fans watched on as the ex-Spurs man sparkled on the big occasion in Wales, and many took to Twitter to applaud the nine-time England Under-21 international for his goal and his display.
