Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Ivory Coast international forward Karim Konate in recent days.
90Min recently reported that Spurs and Arsenal sent scouts to watch the Red Bull Salzburg ace in action against Tirol in the Austrian Bundesliga at the weekend.
Tottenham scouts would’ve loved what they saw. Konate scored both goals in their win over Tirol as Salzburg moved two points clear at the top of the table.
As well as Spurs and Arsenal, the likes of Crystal Palace and West Ham are apparently also monitoring the 19-year-old.
Now, The Athletic has provided another glowing review of Konate, by naming him in their list of Football Manager 2024’s top 20 wonderkids.

‘Konate is a great signing to make,’ they wrote. ‘He’s relatively cheap and often scores a lot of goals at a high level.
‘Securing his signature should not prove too difficult as he plays for RB Salzburg. That means a lot of Premier League teams should be able to get a deal done.’
Obviously this is a game we’re talking about, but it’s a very well researched one at that.
And Konate certainly seems to have what it takes to become a star at the highest level.
‘He’s really good’
Konate has come a long way following his £3million move to Salzburg from Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas in the summer of 2022.
The teenager went on loan to FC Liefering in the first half of the 2022-23 campaign and was outstanding, registering 15 goals and three assists from 18 outings.
Konate returned to Salzburg in January and has become prolific for them too, with 13 goals and seven assists to his name overall. This season, he has 10 goals and six assists.
Scouting outlet Breaking the Lines also sung his praises, deeming him one of the most exciting talents out of Ivory Coast in recent years.
They wrote: ‘Karim Konate is arguably the most exciting talent to come out of Ivory Coast in the past couple of years.
‘Providing the physicality of Sebastian Haller, the dribbling of Jeremie Boga, and the finishing of Wilfried Zaha, Konate is the complete package.
‘There’s a reason he’s drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland, who also played for Salzburg… he’s really good.’
While it’s unlikely that £3million will be enough to take Konate off of Salzburg’s hands, their business model involves selling for profit.
With that in mind, Tottenham will certainly fancy their chances of signing him at some point. However, there will be strong competition.
