Video: ‘Outstanding’ Tottenham player screams in delight at what he did in training this week

Eric Dier is one of the few senior players left at Hotspur Way this week after the experienced defender was snubbed by Gareth Southgate and England again.

Dier has been in fine form for Antonio Conte’s side this season and in recent weeks especially, has looked every bit the player most in the game thought he’d go on and become. Playing in the heart of the Spurs defence, Dier seems to have rediscovered his mojo and is now a key man for Conte.

This week, then, has seen Dier be the senior figure around Hotspur Way when it comes to training. Along with Emerson Royal and Sergio Reguilon, Dier is training with a host of young players and leading the way it seems.

Indeed, a quick watch of the latest Tottenham training video released on the club’s YouTube channel shows us everything we need to know about Dier. As well as being involved in almost everything in the small sided games, Dier then delights himself by planting a header past the goalkeeper during the crossing and heading drills.

Harry Redknapp was a big fan of Dier and recently labelled the defender as having ‘outstanding ability’ and it seems the Englishman is coming to the fore under Conte’s management.

Dier has been excellent for most of the season and his form has been key to Tottenham’s form. Alongside Romero at the back, Conte has a solid base from which to work with.

This nice moment from Dier in training just shows how much he’s enjoying his football. And that, in a nutshell, is a huge positive for Spurs.
