Meite has been in good form in Serie A this term. He’s scored two goals in 17 appearances, but he has caught the eye with his all action displays in the engine room.

He has helped Torino reach ninth in the league, with sixth-placed Roma only three points ahead.

Apparently Torino don’t want to cash in on Meite, and one man who might be keeping a close eye on the links is Victor Wanyama.

Wanyama must recapture old form

Wanyama is someone who would potentially be negatively affected by Meite’s signing.

Meite is a disiciplined midfielder who likes to act as a screen for the defence, just as Wanyama does.

It is therefore paramount that Wanyama gets back to the form he showed last season when he impressed alongside Mousa Dembele.

Wanyama has struggled a lot in 2018/19 with injury and he faces an uphill battle to regain his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI when he returns from his latest knee issue.

Moussa Sissoko has nailed down a central role, and Harry Winks and Eric Dier are both good options – Mousa Dembele is set move to China, as reported by The Daily Telegraph.

Meite coming in would certainly make life difficult for Wanyama, who is expected to stay at the club beyond January.
