Tottenham Hotspur were dumped out of the Champions League last week after Red Bull Leipzig ran riot against them in Germany.
The 3-0 defeat compounded the misery on Jose Mourinho’s injury-hit squad and the current unprecedented break couldn’t have come at a better time.
A 4-0 aggregate defeat didn’t do much for Mourinho’s reputation with Tottenham fans and the summer will be an important time for the Portuguese boss.

If this season does get back underway, Spurs will resume seven points shy of Chelsea in the race for a return to the Champions League.
During the game against Leipzig, Mourinho was handed a front-row seat to view the quality of Emil Forsberg and he must try and sign the winger this summer.
The Swedish winger scored Leipzig’s third goal during last week’s win and was lively throughout.
The 28-year-old can play on the wing or as a No.10 and his goal against Tottenham was his 10th in all competitions during 2019/20.
Forsberg signed for Leipzig for £3.4 million in 2015 and has proved a real steal at such a paltry sum.
Leipzig would likely demand £40 million for their player after his decent campaign in the Bundesliga.
Forsberg’s agent is clearly a big fan of Mourinho’s, however. In February he told The Sun: “Mourinho is a great legend who was worked with Victor Lindelof as well. Together with Victor, Forsberg is the biggest star in the national team and has caused total chaos in Leipzig.”
Competition
Tottenham will want to make sure they aren’t in the same position next season as they have been during 2019/20.

That will probably see Mourinho target some attacking prowess and he could do a lot worse than Forsberg.
He is quick, versatile and desperately hardworking, fitting in with the ethos of what Mourinho looks for in players.
With Harry Kane and Son Heung-min seriously decimating Mourinho’s firepower this season; he will hope to attract some attacking options in the summer.
Forsberg’s versatility would make him ideal and he could prove a smart addition by Tottenham in the summer.
