Tottenham duo Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli could have intriguing battle

Mauricio Pochettino has built a squad at Tottenham that was strengthened during the summer and they have to be in the hunt for silverware in the new 2019/20 season.

One of the marquee additions for Spurs was the capture of Giovani Lo Celso on loan from Real Betis, who Spurs fans should be excited to see in action.

The 23-year-old is an attacking midfielder that dazzled in La Liga last season and becomes the latest Argentine In the squad.

He scored 16 times and supplied six assists across all competitions last campaign for Betis, which suggests Spurs may have a real talent on their hands.

It’s going to be intriguing to see if he can be slotted into the same side as new teammate Dele Alli and they could have an intriguing battle in store for a spot in the team.

Alli was a little under par last season by his high standard, scoring seven goals and supplying eight assists in return.


The 23-year-old England international plays in an advanced midfield role and there are a lot of similarities with Lo Celso.

He’s likely to find competition for places even tough and that may well bring out the best in him.

Alli find himself unavailable for the first game of the season against Aston Villa on Saturday evening with a hamstring problem, but he’s going to need to try hit the ground running when he returns.

With midfield powerhouses like Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko so crucial to the Spurs system, it may be a straight shootout between Alli and Lo Celso.
