Tottenham were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in Saturday’s Champions League Final, ending their 2018/19 campaign in disappointing fashion.
Mauricio Pochettino opted to restore Harry Kane and Harry Winks to the starting line-up and it failed to have the desired effect. Kane, in particular, was largely ineffective and didn’t really look fit enough to be involved.
Several Spurs players were off-colour in the contest and the three-week break following the semi-final seemed to play its part in an abject performance.
Dele Alli was once again below-par for Pochettino’s team. After some stunning form over the last 18 months, the 23-year-old has struggled for consistency this season.

A string of niggling injuries hasn’t helped. The midfielder has missed games with thigh, hamstring and hand issues over the course of the campaign.
According to The Mirror, Spurs are set to embark on a spending spree this summer that could see four or five new players arrive at the club.
With that in mind players such as Alli need to be ready to up their game next season.
When Spurs complete a signing it will be the first incoming piece of business for two transfer windows and will provide a much-needed injection of depth.

Alli has perhaps rested on his laurels of late. With little in the way of competition for his place, he has often been rushed back as one of the only viable options.
At 23 next season is the time for Alli to kick-on and show the potential that he is capable of.
Form for club and country has been patchy at best since the World Cup last summer and 2019/20 looks like being massive for Spurs playmaker.
