Tottenham travel to Leicester City on Saturday night in the Premier League and have to try get three points on the board before they turn attention to the Champions League.
Spurs have a European showdown on Tuesday where they may need to win away at Barcelona to qualify for the Champions League knockouts rounds.
Serge Aurier is set to line up against Leicester in the league due to Kieran Trippier’s latest injury setback, which means the former could also be starting days later out in Spain.
The 25-year-old right-back could do with a massive confidence boost before visiting the Camp Nou, as his last involvement for Spurs was in the 4-2 defeat against Arsenal.
Aurier, who cost £23million (BBC) from Paris Saint-Germain, has shown he can be a commanding full-back when on top of his game.
But on the flip side can look flaky and weak in defensive situations when out of touch, something he can’t afford to be against Barcelona.
Aurier has to try get through the Leicester fixture unscathed and give himself a boost ahead of next week.
But he could be in direct opposition with Leicester and England left-back Ben Chilwell, who has taken giant strides to becoming a top player this season.
The 21-year-old left-sided flyer makes continuous overlapping runs in games past winger Demarai Gray and it’s certainly something that Aurier will need to be wary of.
Chilwell and Aurier are both speed machines that are on their day are a real handful, which is why the Leicester ace could ruin Spurs’ defender if he’s off the mark at the King Power Stadium.
