Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga should be put up against Wolves flyer Adama Traore

Tottenham host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon in a pivotal Premier League clash, as two teams vying for a top four finish lock horns in London.

Spurs currently sit sixth in the league table and will be keen to try close the four-point gap down to fourth-placed Chelsea.

But they are preparing for a Wolves outfit sat just a point behind them in eighth and they have their own aspirations of Champions League football for next season.

Spurs manager Jose Mourinho will be working out his side to face a quality opposition, who have a number of standout individuals in their squad.

Adama Traore is someone that has really started to blossom at Molineux this season, despite making a slow start to his Wolves career after joining for £18million (BBC) in 2018.

The 24-year-old attacker is now ripping up defences in the Premier League and Europa League on a consistent basis.

He’s already scored six goals and supplied 10 assists in 40 games across all competitions this campaign, plus he always seems to make thing happen when in possession with his direct style.

Mourinho will know he needs to try combat the influence of the dangerous right-winger Traore, which is why his team selection is going to be vital.

Ben Davies is the first-choice left-back that could slot into the side, but he’s looked a little sluggish as he makes his way back to his best after missing a few months with an ankle injury.

Spurs should turn to their breakout star Japhet Tanganga at the weekend and give him one of his toughest assignments yet.

The 20-year-old defender has come into the first-team from the academy this campaign with relative ease and has been a major success story.

His versatility has seen Mourinho used him at centre-back and both full-back positions, so moving him over to left-back against Wolves wouldn’t be alien to him.

Traore usually bullies defenders when it comes to his raw pace and natural strength, but Tanganga certainly thrives in those areas too and would give as good as he got.

Tanganga could be the best man for the job in the Spurs squad when it comes to trying to stop a relentless Traore down the right channel and it may be a battle that helps shape the final result.
