Report: Tottenham set sights on 'technically gifted' French star who accused Tim Sherwood of completely ignoring him
Tottenham Hotspur could get a lifeline from Jose Mourinho as they seek to move Tanguy Ndombele on, with reports claiming a swap deal involving Jordan Veretout could be on the cards.
According to Di Marzio, Roma still like the idea of signing Ndombele this month. And they are looking to offer Spurs the chance to sign Veretout as part of a deal to bring the former Lyon midfielder to Italy. Jose Mourinho, who is set to stay in Rome despite links to Everton, wants to add new faces before the month ends.
When it comes to Ndombele, it’s becoming increasingly likely that Tottenham cut their losses on the Frenchman. His form has failed to pick up under Antonio Conte, and he walked off when subbed a few weeks back visibly annoyed at the situation. For some, that was seen as the final straw.

Veretout, meanwhile, has built himself a nice career since leaving Aston Villa. He had a bit of a disastrous time in the Midlands but has since done well. He’s made over 100 appearances for Roma, in addition to 75 with Fiorentina in the Italian game.
Any deal for Ndombele could rely on PSG dropping out of the race. The French giants have emerged as contenders to sign the midfielder in the last 24 hours.
TBR’s View: Any Deal For Ndombele Is Now A Good Deal For Tottenham
What a nightmare signing this has been for Tottenham. Over £50m spent, massive wages, and for what? A few moments of magic but ultimate frustration under different managers.
If Spurs can get someone like Veretout in exchange for Ndombele, then that’s a bonus. But the fact really is that the club just needs to move him on now. Regardless. Ndombele has talent, but whether anyone can unlock that talent remains to be seen. Certainly, a few of the world’s best have tried and failed, so it doesn’t bode too well for the Frenchman.
In terms of Veretout, he is a classy operator. Branded ‘technically gifted’ over in Italy, he also once claimed that former Spurs midfielder, Tim Sherwood, complete ignored him while managing him at Villa.
