Tottenham could still end up signing £34m striker who grew up supporting Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign a new striker this summer.

Spurs still haven’t properly replaced Harry Kane after selling the England captain last summer, and now they need a new striker through the door.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have been linked with a number of options to replace Harry Kane.

Kane’s England teammate, Ivan Toney, has been strongly linked to Tottenham.

Interestingly, Spurs are now being linked with another England international striker.

Tottenham interested in Tammy Abraham

According to Caught Offside, Tottenham still have Tammy Abraham on their transfer radar this summer.

The £34m Roma striker has been linked with a move away from the Italian capital for a little while now, and with Artem Dovbyk set to arrive in Rome, the attacker may be pushed out of the door.

Abraham is said to be a target for Tottenham, but, intriguingly, the striker has close ties to Arsenal on a personal level.

Indeed, while Abraham may end up playing for Spurs, he actually grew up supporting Arsenal.

Tammy Abraham was an Arsenal fan

Intriguingly, Tammy Abraham admitted back in 2017 that he grew up as an Arsenal supporter.

“To be honest I was an Arsenal fan. When you’re young and you choose who to support, if it’s a family thing, it’s a family thing,” Abraham said.

“Luckily for me, it was a family thing, so it wasn’t really a problem at Chelsea. Someone I looked up to was Thierry Henry.

“His variations of finishing, his movement, the way he dribbles. Someone like that has a key impact on me.

“I would love to be as big as him and maybe even better.”

Of course, Abraham’s Arsenal affiliations will make this proposed move to Spurs rather awkward, but this is nothing we haven’t seen before.

The striker wouldn’t be the first Arsenal fan to play for Spurs.

Indeed, in recent years, Spurs have had a few Arsenal supporters play for the club.

Matt Doherty supported Arsenal as a youngster, with the club even referencing the Irishman’s support of Arsenal when they announced his signing on social media.

Meanwhile Dejan Kulusevski previously said that Arsenal were his favourite team before he signed for Tottenham.

Who players support doesn’t really matter in this day and age, they are professional athletes, and the only team that matters to them is the team they’re representing at that particular moment in time.

Abraham could still be a fantastic signing for Tottenham, even though he grew up as an Arsenal fan.
