Tottenham could play both Harry Kane and Carlos Vinicius together this season – TBR View

Tottenham continued their explosive start to the season last night despite a late West Ham comeback ensuring the game finished 3-3.

Spurs have enjoyed a brilliant opening few months in the Premier League, smashing in goals left, right and centre, and finally looking like showing the form, spirit, and togetherness that can drive them to a trophy.

Obviously, key to the upturn in form for Tottenham has been how Harry Kane has been playing. The England skipper has scored five times in the PL already, while he’s also added a league-leading seven assists.

But aside from the goals and assists, it’s the overall performances of Kane that have caught the eye. Jose Mourinho has got the England man playing slightly deeper, with Kane dropping in to get on the ball more and dictate play.

And following the loan signing of Carlos Vinicius in the summer, which could be made permanent for £40m (BBC), Kane’s new-found role could mean we end up seeing the Brazilian and Spurs’ main man forming a deadly duo.

Unexpected

The signing of Vinicius was really, on the surface anyway, completed in order to allow Kane to have some time off and make sure Spurs had a player capable of stepping in over the course of the campaign.

But with Kane being so influential on proceedings in his deeper role, we could well see Vinicius starting alongside the England man, rather than as a back-up.

That in itself is quite a scary thought for the rest of the Premier League, who have already seen Spurs running riot in terms of goals.

But for Jose Mourino and Tottenham fans, Kane’s emergence in this deeper role opens up a whole new realm of possibilities in an attacking sense. And that, can only be a positive thing for the north London club as they look to end their trophy drought in 2020/21.
