TBR Football understands that there is a good chance Tottenham Hotspur will terminate the contract of Bryan Gil on deadline day.

Spurs fans are hoping for new signings before the 7:00 pm deadline, but they have work to do with respect to outgoings as well.

There are a few players at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium who are surplus to requirements. One of them is Bryan Gil.

Tottenham could terminate Bryan Gil’s contract

Gil has been on Tottenham’s books for four years now.

The Spaniard joined Spurs from Sevilla in the summer of 2021 in a £22 million deal that also saw Erik Lamela go in the opposite direction.

Gil was viewed as a huge talent at the time, and he showed a few flashes of his brilliance in a Tottenham shirt early on. Graham Roberts even hailed him as a ‘superstar’ in his debut season.

However, things have just not worked out for Gil over the years, and Tottenham have been trying to offload him for a few windows now.

The North Londoners have only managed loan deals in the past, but now, with less than a year left on his contract, Spurs are ready to terminate his deal.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, said: “Tottenham are ready for Gil to leave, they are talking about him leaving, and there is a good chance he could leave by mutual agreement.

“Tottenham rate Gil, but they fully believe the time is now right for him to move on.”

Bryan Gil’s next club if he leaves Tottenham

Gil has spent three loan spells away from Tottenham over the years.

The first was to Valencia, then his former club Sevilla, and finally to Girona in the 2024/25 season, where Gil directly contributed to seven goals in 32 appearances.

TBR can confirm that Girona are making a big push to sign Gil, this time on a permanent deal.

If Tottenham do terminate the Spaniard’s contract, he will be able to join Girona after the transfer window shuts as well.

So, neither party is in a rush.
