Tottenham could now sell their ‘brilliant’ English player as part of January rebuild

Tottenham are prepping themselves for a busy transfer window as Ange Postecoglou looks for new signings.

The former Celtic boss has worked his magic on Spurs and got them well in the title mix. This, despite a number of high profile injuries that have threatened to derail their season.

Now, with those players coming back slowly, Postecoglou now faces the task of bringing in new players and deciding who can move on as well.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to be the main first-teamer who goes out, with Juventus pushing to get that deal done. However, another midfielder, Oliver Skipp, could also be on the move.

Oliver Skipp could leave Tottenham

According to The Telegraph, Skipp is among a group of players who could be allowed to leave Tottenham if the right bid was to come in.

Skipp’s departure is also dependant on the players Spurs bring in. So far, a number of names are being linked but mainly in defence.

A move for Radu Dragusin is believed to be close. Jean-Clair Todibo has also been mentioned, while there remains big interest in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher.

Daniel Levy will have to do some wheeling and dealing to get certain deals over the line.

But with injuries, Heung-Min Son going off to the Asia cup, and others going to the AFCON, any transfer decisions will need to be well thought-out by both coaching staff and board.

Spurs can’t afford too many to go

There’s little point in Tottenham allowing players out if they aren’t going to replace them. Oliver Skipp might not be quite as high in the pecking order as he wants but he still remains a key squad player.

For Tottenham to lose the ‘brilliant‘ Skipp, it would mean they have someone of high quality lined up to come in.

Conor Gallagher is the obvious name there. But even then, if Hojbjerg was to leave alongside Skipp, it leaves them short in midfield.

Postecoglou has some big decisions to make really. He knows his squad needs to be improved. But he also knows he can’t shake things up too much in January, and that’s where the balancing act comes in.
