Report: Tottenham, Chelsea and Ten Hag are all tracking 'fantastic' defender who is 'so quick' with the ball

Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United are among the teams keeping an eye on Middlesbrough star, Isaiah Jones, according to 90Min.

Jones was one of the stars of the show for Boro last season as he played as a flying right wing-back in Chris Wilder’s famed 3-5-2 system. Unbelievably, Jones is so highly thought of that he kept Tottenham-bound Djed Spence out of things altogether. Of course, Spence got the last laugh winning promotion.

However, Jones is still sought after by Premier League clubs and 90Min has confirmed in a report today that Chelsea, United, and Spurs are all keen. The piece focuses on Jones’ comments suggesting his immediate future lies in Middlesbrough. But he will have taken note of the the admiring glances from above.

Labelled as a ‘fantastic’ teammate by his fellow Boro player, Dael Fry, Jones also caught the eye of Jonathan Woodgate last season too. The Boro native spoke highly of Jones, and in particular, his speed.

“He is playing a role for Middlesbrough as a right-wing back, but he is normally a right winger. He is so quick running with the ball, his deliveries are good and he does not stop running,” Woodgate told the Teesside Gazette.

It will be interesting to see how Jones continues into the new season. That PL interest could become even more come January if he is playing well.

TBR’s View: Jones Is One Of The Championship’s Best

There is no doubt that Middlesbrough have a player in Isaiah Jones who doesn’t half catch the eye. As Woodgate talks about, his speed is impressive and he also does well with his final product.

Another good campaign at Championship level will see that interest in Jones grow. We’ve already seen with Tottenham pursuing Spence that second-tier players are in-demand.

If Jones can keep his momentum and develop further, he’ll be a PL player in no time.
