Tottenham Hotspur have held a longstanding interest in Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell. This dates back to last summer (The Telegraph).
With the summer transfer window just around the corner, Tottenham could re-enter the race for Chilwell, who is enjoying a fine season for Leicester.
But they now face competition from two Spanish heavyweights. According to The Sun, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are now in the hunt for the £50m defender.
Atletico Madrid see the attack-minded left-back as a replacement for veteran Filipe Luis, while Barcelona want him to compete with Jordi Alba.
Chilwell has played 30 games for Leicester this season and has been a key part of their success. The England international also appears to have jumped above Danny Rose in Gareth Southgate’s pecking order.

And this should alert Mauricio Pochettino, who could look for an upgrade at left-back. Rose and Ben Davies share the left-back responsibilities but improvements could be made.
Chilwell would be the ideal long-term option for Pochettino and he could be Rose’s successor for both Tottenham and England.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid’s interest should prompt Spurs into action; they cannot allow the 22-year-old to move to Spain as he should be a summer priority.
