The hunt is on for Leicester City star James Maddison. According to The Daily Star, Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are all in the £60m hunt for Maddison.

It was a sensational debut campaign in the Premier League for Maddison. In 36 Premier League games, he scored seven goals and provided seven assists. He also created over 100 goalscoring chances for team-mates.

The 22-year-old is now wanted by several top Premier League clubs and he will cost a big price. But it could have been a lot easier for Tottenham.

Last summer, Spurs had the chance to sign Maddison after he impressed for Norwich City in the Championship. The London Evening Standard reports that Mauricio Pochettino was not convinced by Maddison and thought Leicester City’s £22m transfer fee was too much.

And it could have been even cheaper for Spurs. Back in 2015, Tottenham turned down the chance to sign Maddison for around £350,000, according to The London Evening Standard.

With a £60m deal now mooted, this looks like a very costly mistake by Tottenham. But they cannot afford to miss out on him again.

The England U21 starlet, who has already received a full call-up, has a bright future. The sky is the limit for Maddison and Spurs must avoid missing out for the third time.
